Canter.Health

What it does

Everything between the chart and the claim.

Canter is one app for the work your EMR and your billing system leave to paper, fax trays and memory. Here is each part, and what it does today.

Rounds and charges

A charge for every day of the stay.

  • Start the list from a photo of the face sheet, or open a patient by scanning the wristband.
  • Patients are grouped by hospital, and each one shows where its charge stands: needs charge, charge ready, sent to biller or skipped today.
  • Canter suggests the codes, modifiers and diagnoses from the note. Nothing reaches the biller until you confirm it.
  • Procedure notes get the same treatment: Canter reads the note and suggests the charge for your review.

Biller handoff

Your biller gets the day, the day it happens.

  • Charges reach your biller with fee-schedule estimates, and days with no charge are flagged.
  • Before a charge goes out, Canter checks the stay for what payers deny: two initial codes in one stay, a stay with no initial code, a discharge nobody billed, two visit codes on one day, or a consult code the patient's payer does not pay.
  • Your biller can send a question back on any charge, and the physician answers it in Canter.
  • Export the day as a spreadsheet and mark the work complete. The physician sees it done.

Claims, payment posting, statements and collections stay in your billing system.

Fax and email inbox

Every fax read and sorted before anyone picks it up.

  • Faxes and emailed documents land in one inbox, sorted into referrals, authorizations, scheduling, clearances, records to upload and requests.
  • Canter reads each referral and pulls out the details for staff to check. Nothing files itself.
  • Send faxes from the same place. Every fax, sent or received, is stored for the practice.

Referrals and follow-ups

From referral to booked visit, with nobody lost after discharge.

  • A referral moves from the inbox to registration to a booked visit, and Canter shows where each one is.
  • Registration lays out the new patient's details to copy into your EMR in one step, then marks it done.
  • Follow-ups overdue for booking, and patients discharged without a follow-up answer, show up in the physician's inbox.

Hospital scheduling packets

  • Build a procedure scheduling packet on the hospital's own forms, filled from the patient's details and ready to fax.
  • A procedure case can start from a faxed note, so nobody retypes it.

Insurance checks and prior authorizations

  • Run an eligibility check with the payer and keep the response with the patient, next to the insurer's directory listing and your participation records.
  • Track every prior authorization case from request to decision, with staff review at each step.

Authorizations are submitted the way your team submits them today. Canter keeps the case and its history.

Device clinic

Remote monitoring, from transmission to signed report.

  • Medtronic CareLink transmissions arrive in Canter on their own.
  • Canter drafts the values. A device technician reviews them, the physician signs, and the report goes out as a PDF on your letterhead.
  • A 30-day batch review keeps every patient on schedule.
  • Remote monitoring charges go to your biller with everything else.

On the phone for rounds, at a desk for billing.

Installs from the browser

Canter runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen. There is nothing to download from an app store.
